Christmas in July Helps Feed the Less Fortunate

CULLMAN– For the third year in a row the Cullman Wellness & Aquatics Center opened its doors Friday, but rather than the typical $10 entry fee residents were encouraged to bring in canned food and other food items to help Cullman Caring for Kids restock their shelves. 

“It seems that the event becomes larger each year, with more and more donations coming in,” Cameron Everett, director CWAC, said. “It is important for the Wellness Center to do its part to help out those less fortunate.”

Everett said the outpouring of support this year was expected, but he said the staff was shocked with how many residents came out to help Cullman Caring for Kids. 

“It’s truly amazing when you walk in the conference room just a couple of hours into the event and seeing the table completely covered, in multiple layers, of canned goods and other food items,” he said.

“It just shows you how much the residents here are willing to give year-round, not just at the holidays. So thank you all for the amazing turnout!”
