Moore, Jones come out on top in Cullman Co.; statewide results closer

Strange, Moore, Jones

CULLMAN - The voters of Cullman County have spoken (20.32 percent of them, to be exact), and they have chosen Republican Roy S. Moore (47.52 percent) and Democrat Doug Jones (65.85 percent) as their nominees for the U.S. Senate seat once held by U.S. Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions. Statewide, the voter gap between Moore and incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Luther Strange is narrower, with (as of 9:23 p.m.) Moore holding 42.29 percent of the vote and Strange 31.63 percent. Strange garnered 31.03 percent of the vote in Cullman County. The voters of Alabama will be heading to a Republican run-off election on Sept. 26. The general election will be Dec. 12.
